Martin origins

The research gave me the results and suggests that Austin's name is really Augustine or Augustin. The report suggests Austin was born in Saint-Laurent, Quebec based on the baptismal record and family tradition that states he was born in Chateauguay, Quebec.

Martin origins

I hired a professional genealogist to look into the ancestry of my 3rd great grandfather Austin Martin. The report I received suggests there should be Catholic records at St. Anne parish in Oswego, New York since records go back to the 1830s. I'm hoping there is a record of the marriage that might help elucidate who his parents are and his two wives particularly Jane, his first wife since she is the mother of of my great-great grandfather John Wesley Martin

My Great Grandfather William (H)enry Martin married twice. His first marriage took place in Norwalk but eventually divorced his first wife and later married in 1924 in Ashland. His second wife Fannie was widowed when her first husband died a few years before. Her first husband Fred was the son of my Great-Great Grandmother Louise's brother Anthony.

Aaron Strimple

John Strimple's son Aaron arrived in Ohio in the 1840s because he is listed on the 1840 United States Federal Census, Miffin Township, Richland, Ohio. In the 1830's he's listed in the Hunterdon, New Jersey. Aaron and his wife Keziah, had 8 children. I've been able to account for all except for Andrew.
John Strimple's son Aaron arrived in Ohio in the 1830s since he appeared on the 1830 United States Federal Census in Kingwood Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

Martin origins

The furthest I can go is Austin Martin born in Quebec, Canada about 1815 and died in Mexico, Oswego, New York about 1893. I presume my Father's side of the family came from France but am unable to prove it yet. I have an 1850, 1860, 1870 Mexico, New York census records. His son Anthony is his neighbor in the 1860 Mexico, New York census. He must have been married at least three times. The only idea I can come up with is to find Catholic records that my prove but, I have no idea which parish or if the records exist.

Strimples

The Strimple line came probably from the Bayern region of Germany. The patriarch is Johann Wilhelm Strempel who sailed aboard the Snow Kitty in the mid 1700s and landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1756. He later married Christiana Sax in New Jersey. Their son John Strimple fought in the Revolutionary War in the 2nd and 4th New Jersey Regiment. He fought at Elizabethtown, Brandywine, and was at Valley Forge during the winter. Most of the Strimple descendants living in northern Ohio are descended from John.
